ADVANCED Aesthetic Perio Excellence

APEX — Advanced Perio Excellence

APEX – Advanced Perio Excellence is an in-depth online course designed to help clinicians understand the crucial role of periodontal principles within restorative, aesthetic, orthodontic and implant dentistry. The course explores how successful treatment planning requires a multi-disciplinary approach, where aesthetics are only one part of achieving long-term functional, biological and patient-centred outcomes.

Across the course, delegates will develop a deeper understanding of biological width, the complications that can arise when it is compromised, and how to diagnose and manage altered passive eruption using appropriate classification and treatment protocols. The programme also covers the surgical sequence for correcting APE, the role of orthodontics in complex restorative cases, and the management of the non-vital discoloured tooth.

APEX also provides detailed insight into the diagnosis and treatment rationale for single tooth recession, multiple recession defects and root coverage procedures, including flap design, connective tissue grafting and soft tissue management. The course concludes by exploring how soft tissue flap design around dental implants can be used to enhance both the aesthetic and functional outcome of implant treatment.
